An August morning at the beach, North Sea

Please feel free to comment!

Oil on linen
40x50 (about 1.3 by 1.6 feet)

As promised, I am including a realistic painting this week... This was done onsite, on a beach near the town of Monster, the Netherlands. By the time I wrapped up this painting, the beach was getting really crowded. This is what it looked like around 10 in the morning.

  1. Keep it real mann!
What a compelling name for a town.
I always wanted to establish a town called Hell, or Nastytown, or something like that.
Places like Pleasantville tend to be all gossipy, Amityville all horrible, etc.
Monster looks sweet. Tis it? FatJimmie

After a few years I hope to back in touch with you too - what a wonderful way to reintegrate by following your art.
All my walls are bare in my new apartment...I'll have to commission something.

  3. Jim,

From what I've seen of Monster, it is a working town filled with greenhouses - in Holland you can typically find cut flowers, orchids, and tomatoes grown under cover of glass.

    Kristina,

Great to hear from you after so many years! We'll look you up when we are next in DC. I'll have to make you a suitably political painting. Good luck with the Einstein fellowship.
